The Ten-Minute Measure-Up
Grab a tape, painter’s tape, and your phone. Sketch a rough floor plan and annotate lengths in inches or centimeters, noting window heights, sill depths, and any protrusions. Photograph corners and ceilings because memory lies, especially about bulkheads and beams. Use painter’s tape to outline potential furniture footprints on the floor; stand, sit, and practice moving through those outlines. Even a quick 1:50 scale drawing clarifies what actually fits, and it immediately reveals opportunities for built-ins or the places a door swing steals valuable inches.
